Many travelers have short stay in Uganda and Rwanda yet they can’t get enough of African mountain gorillas. However, this 4 days 3 nights Uganda Rwanda tour will give you a chance to trek the gorilla in both Uganda and Rwanda safari package. The tour will begin and end in Kigali Rwanda’s capital and its largest city. Not only gorilla trekking, but also this tour will give you a chance of learning about the interesting life of the former forest people (the Batwa), and visiting Genocide memorial sites in Kigali to pay homage to the more than 1m victims who lost their lives during the genocide.

Detailed Itinerary for Rwanda Uganda Gorillas

Day 1: arrival-Kigali City Tour & transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be greeted by your Mum and Dad Uganda Tours guide and driven to your hotel in a quiet verdant street in the heart of down-town Kigali. Arrive at your pre-booked hotel/lodge for a free drink by the hotel’s pool bar, you get briefed by your guide on the details of your upcoming memorable adventure. Take a city tour or visit the genocide memorial site, the craft markets to browse amongst the pottery, carvings, batik, weaving, musical instruments, leather and fabrics on offer. You will have lunch and later transfer to the Gorilla haven in the Volcanoes National Park. You will check in pre-booked accommodation in Rehengeri town just outside the park and later go for an exploration tour of the scenic twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Early morning breakfast and then after report to the park headquarters to receive short briefings about gorilla trekking and also gets you allocated to the gorilla family. At 8:00am you will start to hike into lead by the ranger guide hike deep into the forest to have a chance to meet the endangered gorillas in their natural habitat.  Gorilla trekking is unpredictable as meeting them depends on where they last spent their night from. After reaching the gorillas, u will spend an hour with and then descend back to the lodge for lunch. After drive through the Virunga Volcanoes into Uganda.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Uganda

On this day after a cup of tea or coffee, the guide will take you to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas and also gets you allocated to the gorilla group to trek. Rwanda Uganda Gorillas , Bwindi national park host the highest number of these gentle giants in the world almost a half of the remaining mountain gorillas live in this park. Not only gorillas but also the park is a home to other species like butterflies, plants, primates, mammals, butterflies, frogs, among others.

Gorilla trekking experience last between 1-8 hours since meeting them depends on where they spent their last night from and once they are met you are strictly allowed only one hour with the gorillas. After this wonderful experience, you will return to the lodge for some rest and later go out for a nature walk in the surrounding areas or stay at your lodge relaxing till dinner and overnight

Day 4: Batwa Cultural Experience & Transfer to Kigali

On this day of Rwanda Uganda Gorillas , after breakfast, you will go for a community walk and meet the Batwa pygmy, these people have used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted as a National Park.  Once they are met, you will learn more about their life and culture and also on how they have managed to stay in the forest for over 500 years. They will share with you an amazed wealth of knowledge they have on native medicinal plants; hunting and gathering; trapping animals; and predicting the weather.  Retire to the lodge for lunch and later you will make a transfer back to Kigali city. En-route you will enjoy the sights of volcanic highlands that mark the boundaries between Congo, Uganda and Rwanda and their associated crater lakes. If your departure flight is in the late evening, you will be taken for a short tour in the City Centre for you to buy some souvenirs if interested before transferring to the airport to meet your departure flight back home/ if your flight is in the morning, you will be taken to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.
