Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala-Kibale Forest National Park for the birding safari

After a lovely breakfast this morning, your private safari driver will pick you up from the Hotel for a road trip to Kibale Forest National Park. Located about 340 kilometers from the Capital, this Primate Capital of the World is also a birding Paradise with about 375 bird species to look out for. Have a lunch break at Fort Portal Town and continue for a Crater Lake tour that ends with a drive to the Lodge for dinner, rest and overnight.

Day 2: Kibale Forest Birding and tour of Bigodi wetland Sanctuary

This day takes you into the heart of Kibale Forest National Park, one of the must-visit Important Bird Areas in Uganda. Converge at Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing from the Ranger guide, but make sure to carry your camera, Binoculars, drinking water, energy-giving snacks and wear hiking boots, safari pants, long-sleeved shirt and a rainproof backpack. Get briefed on the activity you are about to undertake and start the birding tour where sights of yellow-billed barbets, green-breasted pitta, Chestnut wattle eye.

African Emerald cuckoo, Black bee-eater, Slender-billed weavers, African pied wagtail, Great blue Turacos, Dusky crimsonwing, Nahan’s francolin, Western Nicator, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, White-naped pigeon, Africa pitta, Crowned eagle, Abyssinian ground thrush, Red-chested owlet, and many others. While on your birding adventure, also look-out for the wildlife species especially the Olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoests monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, to mention but a few.

In the afternoon, be prepared for another birding adventure, in Bigodi wetland Sanctuary at a stone throw from Kibale Forest National Park. You will be introduced to great blue turacos, African pitta, Papyrus gonolek, yellow-rumped tinkerbird, Papyrus canary, double-toothed barbets, Black bee-eaters and White-thighed hornbills among others.

Day 3: Kibale-Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon game drive

Today you will take the 2-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, situated in the western side of Uganda. Take in the views of Crater Lakes including Nyinambuga, banana plantations and roadside markets while on this drive and arrive the medley of wonders around mid-morning. Upon arrival, get checked into your Lodge and later freshen-up. Queen Elizabeth National Park is an earthly Paradise with over 95 mammal and 600 bird species in the savannah grasslands, woodland, wetlands, Lakes and deep valleys. After lunch, head out for a proper game drive that will introduce you to the elephants, Cape buffaloes, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, warthogs, mongoose, to mention but a few.

Settle for your dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 4: Guided bush walk and afternoon boat ride along Kazinga Channel

After your breakfast at the Lodge, brace up for a guided birding walk through Queen Elizabeth National Park. First get briefed by the park Ranger and start walking through the savannah grasslands, towards the woodlands and other ecosystems while spotting more of the park’s bird species. Look-out for the Hairy-breasted barbets, Black Bishop, Blue-spotted wood dove, Blue-breasted Kingfishers, Fan-tailed widowbird, Black crowned waxbill, the black and white casqued hornbills, Bronze sunbirds, Black and white shrike Flycatcher, Double-toothed barbets, and so much more. Settle for lunch and siesta at the Lodge. While on this bush walk, meet animals like Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, Topis, warthogs, elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks and so much more.

In the afternoon, head for the boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel where more bird species such as Pied and giant kingfishers, African fish eagles, African skimmers, Pink-backed and great white pelicans, Pygmy kingfishers, Great blue Turacos, Black-headed gonolek, Blue-breasted Kingfishers, and many others are spotted.
