Day 1: Arrival and Drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Camp
On the first day of your 12-Day Best of Uganda and Rwanda Safari, your guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in the morning after breakfast. You will then begin your journey to Murchison Falls National Park, traveling through the historic Luwero Triangle. Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic views of the Ugandan countryside and traditional homesteads.
Before entering the park, you’ll make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can see both black and white rhinos in the wild. Here, you will go on a guided walking safari to track the rhinos, a thrilling and up-close wildlife experience. After the rhino tracking, you will enjoy lunch either at the sanctuary restaurant or in the town of Masindi, depending on the time.
After lunch, you will proceed to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the top of the falls—a truly breathtaking sight where the mighty Nile River is forced through a narrow 7-meter gorge, creating a powerful and dramatic waterfall known as the Victoria Nile.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park – Game drives & Boat cruises
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will set out for a thrilling 2-hour game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including leopards, hippos, lions, warthogs, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, waterbucks, and numerous bird species, offering you an unforgettable safari experience.
Following this exciting game drive, you will return to the lodge for some relaxation and a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a 3-hour boat cruise along the Nile River. As you sail, you’ll have the chance to spot many animals along the riverbanks, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and antelopes. You may also see monkeys and various bird species, and if you’re lucky, you could spot the rare shoebill stork along the shores.
The boat will take you to the bottom of the Murchison Falls, where you will disembark and take a short, yet scenic hike of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to the top of the falls, offering stunning views of the powerful waterfalls.

Day 3: Visit to the top of the falls and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you will visit the “Top of the Roaring Murchison Falls,” where you can witness the mighty Nile River squeezing through a 7-meter gorge before plunging 40 meters down in a thunderous explosion. The falls then flow into a calm river, whose banks are teeming with a variety of water and land animals, as well as numerous bird species.
Following this spectacular sight, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park, passing through the charming town of Fort Portal. Along the way, enjoy the scenic landscapes that offer breathtaking views of the Ugandan countryside.
Kibale Forest National Park is one of Africa’s most beautiful rainforests, home to over 13 species of primates. The park is best known for its chimpanzees, our closest relatives, but also hosts other primates such as colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and baboons, to name a few. Kibale is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with over 325 bird species recorded within the park.
In the evening, you will enjoy a peaceful walk in the park before returning to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking kibale forest -Uganda safari
Early Breakfast at the lodge, after your guide will take you to the park head offices for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with chimps and after set out for Chimpanzee tracking through the forest. During the trek, you stand a big chance to spot more species of primates that live in the forest plus various species of birds. Once the chimps are met, you are only allowed 1 hour with the chimpanzees, you may find them doing their daily activities like feeding, breast feeding, making nest for the following night, playing etc. On seeing chimpanzees, other primates can be spotted such as the Red Tailed Monkeys, LHoest’s Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Black & White colobus Monkeys among others and also elephants, antelopes, buffaloes can be spotted in the forest. After this breathtaking experience, you will follow the guide back to the lodge for lunch.
In the evening of this 12 Day Best of Uganda Rwandago for a nature walk through the Bigodi wetland where you will see different species of birds, primate species like the baboons, bush babies among other wildlife species. Go back to the lodge for dinner and an Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Game drive & Boat cruise – Queen Elizabeth Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on an early morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering a prime opportunity to see early risers such as hyenas, wildebeests, and a variety of other wildlife, including waterbucks, lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, and numerous bird species. During the drive, you will also be able to view several of the park’s stunning crater lakes.
Following this exciting 3-hour game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. Day 7: Game drive in the Ishasha sector of QEP and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
On this day after a hearty breakfast we drive to the Ishasha sector an extension of Queen Elizabeth National Park for another thrilling game drive. Ishasha Sector is well-known for its tree climbing lions and they are very interesting to watch when sited on fig trees or tree branches as they scan for kobs in the neighboring mating grounds. Day 8: Mountain Gorilla trekking safari
After enjoying a cup of tea or coffee, your guide will take you to the park headquarters for a brief orientation on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. You will also be assigned to a specific gorilla group for your trek. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the largest population of mountain gorillas in the world, with nearly half of the remaining population residing in this park. In addition to gorillas, the park is a biodiversity hotspot, sheltering other species such as butterflies, plants, primates, mammals, frogs, and more.
The gorilla trekking experience can last anywhere from 1 to 8 hours, depending on where the gorillas spent the previous night. Once you find them, you will be allowed to spend just one hour with the gorillas to minimize disturbance.
For those who may not wish to trek the gorillas, an alternative option is available. You can opt for a guided forest walk or a cultural village walk to visit the Batwa community. After your activities, return to the lodge to relax and reflect on the day.

Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will begin your scenic transfer from Bwindi to Rwanda, driving through one of the most beautiful regions of the country, often referred to as “the Switzerland of Africa” due to its unique Mediterranean-like climate, despite being near the Equator. Along the way, you will enjoy stunning landscapes and lush greenery.
You will arrive at the Uganda-Rwanda border at Gatuna, where you will complete the border crossing formalities. Afterward, continue your journey into Rwanda, famously known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Upon reaching Volcanoes National Park, you will check in at your designated lodge for a comfortable stay.

Day 10: gorilla trekking and Batwa in Volcanoes National Park
On this Best of Uganda Rwanda Safari, after an early breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters for a brief orientation on the guidelines of gorilla trekking. You will also be assigned to a specific gorilla family for your trek. At 8:00 AM, you will begin your hike, led by a skilled ranger guide, deep into the forest with the aim of encountering the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Gorilla trekking is an unpredictable experience, as the location of the gorillas depends on where they spent the previous night.
Once you reach the gorillas, you will have the incredible opportunity to spend one hour with them, observing their behavior and interactions in the wild. Afterward, you will descend back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, you can immerse yourself in the local culture by attending a cultural performance and meeting the Batwa people, or you can opt for a peaceful nature walk to further explore the area.
Later, after trekking, you will return to the lodge for a late lunch. Throughout the evening, you can take a stroll through the local community or simply unwind and relax at the lodge, reflecting on the day’s experiences.
