Experience the ultimate wildlife adventure with Mum and Dad Uganda Tours

Embark on an unforgettable 4-day double gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, taking you deep into the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. This tour offers a unique opportunity to trek gorillas twice in different sectors, providing an unparalleled wildlife experience.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a biodiversity hotspot, featuring lush landscapes rich in flora and fauna, including primates, birds, butterflies, reptiles, and rare plant species. Known as an ancient rainforest, it is believed to have survived the last ice age.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bwindi is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, hosting 348 bird species, including almost all Albertine Rift endemics in Uganda. Uniquely, this is the only park where chimpanzees and gorillas coexist, and on a lucky day, you may spot chimps alongside gorillas in their natural habitat.

By the end of this 4-day adventure, you will have memories to last a lifetime. Book now and explore the wild like never before!

Double Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda

A Double Gorilla Trekking Safari is a truly unique adventure that allows travelers to experience the thrill of observing mountain gorillas not once, but twice during a single safari. This exceptional experience enables visitors to encounter two different gorilla families, offering a deeper insight into their behaviors, social structures, and natural habitat.

Why Choose Double Gorilla Trekking Over Single Trekking

While a single gorilla trek provides a remarkable opportunity to witness one gorilla family in its natural environment, double gorilla trekking takes the experience to a whole new level. By visiting two distinct gorilla families, travelers gain a more comprehensive understanding of their daily routines, interactions, and social dynamics. Each gorilla group has unique personalities, making the second trek a fresh and enriching encounter, perfect for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.

Physical Demands of a Double Gorilla Trekking Safari

A double gorilla trekking safari is both exhilarating and physically challenging. Trekkers navigate dense rainforests, steep trails, and occasionally muddy paths, encountering natural obstacles like fallen trees and thick undergrowth. Each trek usually lasts between 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorilla family’s location, making this experience ideal for those prepared for moderate to strenuous hiking. Good physical fitness and proper preparation are essential for enjoying the full adventure.

Best Time for Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

The dry seasons from June to August and December to February are considered the best times for a double gorilla trekking safari in Uganda. During these months, trails are easier to navigate, and trekking is generally more comfortable. However, gorilla trekking is possible year-round, and each season offers its own advantages, including lush scenery during the rainy season and fewer visitors on the trails.

Gorilla Permits for Double Gorilla Trekking

For a double gorilla trekking safari, travelers need two separate gorilla permits, one for each gorilla family encounter. Permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and are required to access the parks. Since permits are limited, it is essential to book in advance to secure availability, especially during peak travel periods.

Why Uganda is the Best Destination for Double Gorilla Trekking

Uganda stands out as a top destination for mountain gorilla safaris due to its thriving populations in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. These parks are home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, providing unmatched opportunities to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Trekking through lush forests, misty hills, and verdant landscapes allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking beauty and biodiversity of Uganda.
