A 5 Days Uganda Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Wildlife Safari combines Bwindi gorilla trekking, Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee tracking, and Queen Elizabeth National Park game drives + Kazinga Channel boat cruise—perfect for travelers who want Uganda’s top primate experiences and classic savannah wildlife in one short, high-impact itinerary.
Experience the best of Uganda in one compact, high-value adventure: our 5 Days Uganda Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Wildlife Safari 2026–2030. This private safari pairs Queen Elizabeth National Park safari action—game drives, the famous Kazinga Channel boat cruise, and Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee tracking—with the once-in-a-lifetime moment of Bwindi gorilla trekking tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Designed for couples, friends, and small groups, this itinerary is ideal if you want a Uganda primates and wildlife safari without rushing. You travel in a comfortable 4×4 with a professional local guide, focusing on wildlife, scenery, and authentic community encounters—while keeping the trip eco-friendly through low-impact trekking practices and conservation-supporting permit systems that help protect mountain gorillas and local communities.
Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala → Queen Elizabeth National Park (Scenic transfer + crater views)
Your driver-guide picks you up from Entebbe International Airport or your Kampala hotel and begins the journey west toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive is part of the experience: rolling countryside, tea estates, and dramatic views as you approach the Rift Valley landscapes. You’ll stop for lunch en route and arrive in the park region in the afternoon. If time allows, enjoy a relaxed “welcome” activity—such as a short community walk, a sundowner viewpoint, or simply settling in early to hear the sounds of the bush. Your guide will brief you on the next two safari days, including how we maximize sightings with early departures and radio-guided tracking where available. Dinner and overnight near Queen Elizabeth, perfectly positioned for morning wildlife viewing.
Day 2: Queen Elizabeth NP game drive + Kazinga Channel boat safari (big mammals + birds)
After an early breakfast, head out for a sunrise game drive—the best time for predators and active wildlife. Expect classic savannah species such as elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, waterbuck, and—if lucky—lions or a leopard. Your guide focuses on high-probability tracks and habitat zones, stopping for photography and interpretation (animal behavior, ecosystems, conservation). Later, return for lunch and a short rest before the afternoon highlight: the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, famous for dense hippo pods, Nile crocodiles, and some of Uganda’s best waterbird viewing. This boat safari is a guest favorite because wildlife comes close and the light is often beautiful for photos. End the day with dinner and overnight at your lodge, with optional stargazing and a campfire vibe depending on property.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge + transfer to Bwindi (Ishasha option)
Today delivers your second primate experience: chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge—a forest “island” within the Queen Elizabeth ecosystem, known for dramatic scenery and adventurous trekking. Tracking time varies (often 2–4 hours) depending on chimp movement, but your ranger team leads the search while explaining other primates, birds, and the gorge’s unique ecology.
After the trek, begin your transfer toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. If you choose the Ishasha sector route, you may search for the famous tree-climbing lions (sightings are wildlife-dependent). You’ll arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon/evening, check in, and prepare for tomorrow’s gorilla trek with a clear packing checklist: long sleeves, rain jacket, gloves, sturdy boots, and a small daypack. Dinner and overnight near the Bwindi trekking sector assigned to your permit.
Day 4: Bwindi gorilla trekking experience (the main event) + community visit
This is the unforgettable day: gorilla trekking in Bwindi. After an early breakfast, you’ll go to the park headquarters for briefing—rules, safety, photography guidance, and group allocation. Then you enter the forest with ranger guides and trackers. Trek length can range from about 2 to 8 hours depending on gorilla location, terrain, and pace—Bwindi is steep and lush, so moderate fitness helps. Once you meet a gorilla family, you’ll spend one powerful hour observing behavior, family dynamics, feeding, and play—an experience many travelers describe as life-changing. Gorilla permits in Uganda have been listed at USD 800 (foreign non-resident) for the current tariff cycle referenced by multiple safari sources.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and rest. Later, enjoy an optional community experience (e.g., Batwa/Bakiga cultural encounter, craft market, storytelling), supporting local livelihoods connected to conservation. Dinner and overnight in Bwindi.
Day 5: Bwindi → Entebbe/Kampala (departure day + equator stop option)
After breakfast, begin the return journey to Entebbe (or Kampala). This is a longer driving day, so we plan clean comfort stops and lunch en route. If your schedule allows, you can pause for souvenir shopping and photo stops (including the Equator line if traveling via that route). Your guide ensures timely arrival for your outbound flight—typically recommending late afternoon/evening flights for smoother logistics (or we can add a night in Entebbe if preferred). Before drop-off, you’ll receive a quick safari recap: where you tracked, what you saw, and practical photo-sharing options. End of services—unless you want to extend with Lake Bunyonyi relaxation or a Murchison Falls safari
