3 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda/3 Days Uganda Gorilla Tour
Safari Overview
3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari with Mum & Dad Uganda Tours takes you deep into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. With fewer than 1,000 mountain gorillas remaining worldwide, nearly half of them live in Bwindi, making this park one of the best places on earth for gorilla trekking.
During this safari, you will trek gorillas in their natural habitat and enjoy an optional Batwa community encounter, where you meet one of the oldest indigenous forest communities in East Africa. The Batwa people will share their traditional dances, songs, hunting techniques, and knowledge of medicinal plants.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is an ancient rainforest, believed to have survived the last ice age. It boasts exceptional biodiversity, including rich populations of trees, mammals, birds, butterflies, reptiles, and amphibians. It is also the only park in the world where chimpanzees and mountain gorillas coexist.

How to Prepare for a Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda
Planning a gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park requires careful preparation to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable experience. Here’s what you need to know before you embark on this adventure.
Health and Age Requirements
Before trekking, ensure that you are in good health and free from any communicable diseases, as this is critical for both your safety and the wellbeing of the gorillas. Only individuals aged 15 years and above are allowed to participate in gorilla trekking. Children under 15 are not permitted in the park, so it’s important to plan accordingly.
Secure Your Gorilla Trekking Permit
To experience mountain gorillas in Uganda, you must obtain a gorilla trekking permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). The most reliable way to do this is through a registered tour company such as Mum and Dad Uganda Tours, who can handle all the logistics, ensure your permits are secured in advance, and provide professional guidance throughout your safari.
Physical Preparation
Gorilla trekking involves long walks through dense rainforest terrain, sometimes over steep or muddy trails. Preparing physically will enhance your experience. Consider regular walking, hiking, or light exercise in the weeks leading up to your safari.
If you prefer a less strenuous experience or want to support local communities, you can also hire a porter to carry your backpack and provide assistance during the trek.
Mental Preparation
Trekking gorillas is not only physically demanding but also mentally rewarding. Prepare to spend hours in the rainforest, observing the gorillas in their natural habitat. Patience, a sense of adventure, and respect for the environment will make your gorilla trekking safari truly unforgettable.
