Nshongi Camp is one of the ranked budget accommodations in bwindi national park.  And if you don’t make prior reservation, you may miss getting a room at the facility. The lodge is located just about7.8km from the center of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and 340.3km from Entebbe International Airport or Kampala the capital city. If you need a perfect nshongi-camp experience staying here is perfect. In fact it’s the only place in Uganda and in the world where you can track five different Gorilla groups including Nshongi, Mishaya, Kahungye, Busingye, Bweza.

 

The lodge is strategically located, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the Ugandan Wildlife Service hut, which is a starting point of the Gorilla tracking. It’s also juts meters to a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Uganda. Nshongi Camp has four traditional bandas, and is the perfect place for linking with nature.

Apparently, the facility have double beds and private bathrooms. Each bed has a mosquito net and views of the mountain. Guests can dine under the stars and relax by the roaring campfire. The lodge offers three course meals and they are prepared daily and if want packed lunch it can be prepared for your gorilla trekking tracking. Hot coffee, tea, and drinks are always available on request.

Best activities to do at Nshongi camp

  • Visit the Batwa community which is mainly inhabited by the Batwa and Bafumbira in Rushaga. You will have a chance to experience a new culture.
  • Gorilla tracking encounter. Bwindi is specifically a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda harboring over 350 of them, more reason as to why it should be your safari destination and other primate species reaching in the evening.
