Bakiga lodge is one of the supper mid-range accommodation located in the Ruhija sector of bwindi impenetrable national park. Just a few point to the meeting point for gorilla trekking.

The lodge can be reached in just about 9hours drive from Kampala via Masaka Rd and Kabale – Mbarara Rd. The lodge was greatly constructed on the top of a beautiful valley overlooking bwindi forest. And it gives a real meaning of an African experience, no one ever stayed here and left complaining, it is worth to stay for any traveler on mid-range style.

It provide comfort and warm Ugandan service and fantastic food. Both for local and international foods, with a bar which operates 24/7.

Bakiga lodge offers over 10 roomy cabins, all self-contained with en-suite bathrooms. Each cabins has private balconies with beautiful views of the forest. With 6 family cabins and 2 twin tents of which all are self-contained. The WIFI internet is available all the time at the lodge. The lodge is known as one of the nonprofit lodges in Bwindi national park and its part of the Bakiga Community Project. Additionally a registered Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Uganda and a registered charity in the UK.

Tourist activities to do while at Bakiga Lodge

Gorilla trekking, this is the major tourist activity done while staying here at Bakiga Lodge, gorilla families to trek from here include the Bitukura or Oruzogo guerilla groups

• Bird Viewing Tours, several species of birds can be watched from here, some of which can’t be seen elsewhere. The park is a home to over 312 species of birds, some of which include Albertine Rift endemics. Ruhija being the highest peak of the forest offers the best view of rear species such as white starred robin, grey cuckoo shrike, strange weaver
• Guided hikes in the Forest
• One can also go for a guided walk while here, the walks can take you to Mubwindi Swamp in Bwindi Forest
• Forest walks
• One can decide to stay at the lodge and  Relax as he/she takes a breathtaking views at the lodge
• Performances of dance and song by local children are also conducted here
• Retreats and conferences can also be arranged with here at Bakiga Lodge.
• Bakiga Community Project also offers the opportunity of working on community water projects across Kabale district.
