Midrange Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Silver back lodge


Silver back lodge is one of the latest addition to the Marasa Africa properties, it’s known as one of the beautiful mid-range accommodation worth to stay. The lodge is located in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in western Uganda. It’s strategically located in that it’s just a 5 minutes’ walk to the national park and has comprehensive views of the valley and forests that border it especially a 124-square-mile UNESCO site home to about 350 mountain remaining mountain gorillas, also home to over 346 species of birds, and around 163 species of trees. From Kampala to the lodge it can take about 9 hours’ drive by road and by air it’s just about 2 hours from Kajanzi air sprit to Kihihi or Ishasha airstrips

Silver back lodge is known as the biggest lodge in the area and it’s also considered one of the most comfort lodges with a lot of hospitality. The lodge was built and designed using local materials, including sisal rope, forest vines, and purple slate stone. Each of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom with hot water showers and comfy chairs on the veranda

The lodge has a 24/7 operating restaurant which offers all types of dishes ranging from local to international dishes. Its bar is well stocked, it offers comfort and it operates 24/7 the perfect place for sharing the day’s adventures of gorilla trekking, primate watching and bird viewing with family and friends. Its gardens are so beautiful and very perfect for relaxing and enjoying the splendid landscape of Bwindi forest after a long day’s hike.

Gorilla mist Camp


Gorilla mist camp is one of the sounding midrange lodges the Ruhija sector of Bwindi national park. The lodge can be accessed by either air charter from Entebbe Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip or by road. By air it’s just about 45minutes flight from Entebbe International Airport in Entebbe or Kajjansi airstrip to Kisoro airstrip or Kihihi airstrip which is about 3 hours’ drive to the lodge, however by road it takes about 10 hours’ interesting drive. If you travelling as a family/group gorilla mist camp offers the best, it has exclusively comfortable rooms of about 8 in number.

To mention some of the gorilla families which can be trekked setting from gorilla mist camp include the Oruzogo and Bitukura.

The food which is provided at the lodge is so delicious 3 course meal is provided, at the lodge still, nature walks can be arranged while on request, however, birders are gifted with grate chances of encountering different species of birds that inhabit the park, while on the way, you will as well view beautiful scenery.

The camp’s bar is open 24/7 and it provides a good number of both hot and soft drinks, the camp is approximately7kilometers from the national park.

If needed camping own camping equipment’s, the gorilla mist camp has camping grounds, you can easily camp anywhere at the lodge.

Engagi Lodge


Engagi Lodge is a mid-range lodge which is located a few meters outside the gate to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, in Kanungu district in Western Uganda. The lodge is set-up in a large tract of land adjoining with the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, making it a great place for nature survey. Being located just about 9 hours’ drive from the capital city Kampala or 45 minutes from Entebbe /Kajansi air strip using charter flight to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip, then from there you will be driven direct to the lodge, for about 2 hours.

Engagi lodge is well furnished and the style of the rooms are made of glass especially the glass sliding doors used as room entrances so nice looking. The lodge has a splendid setting that offers spectacular views over the forest canopy.

The lodge is strategically located and it can occupy a big group of people but still allows for smaller individuals. The lodge has a well-stocked bar which operates 24/7. The lodge has well designed sitting room, the dining room and a large outdoor veranda viewing platform which is worth to sit along. At here, you can view the Bwindi forest from every corner inside the building.

While at Engagi Lodge, You can view Bwindi forest from every corner inside the building. The lodge consists of about 8 en-suite cottages which are well furnished and well-spaced out and hidden in the foliage. Each has either double or twin beds, a bathroom with flushing toilets and hot and cold running water. Each has a private balconies where guests can enjoy their morning tea or coffee as they watch out over the forest canopy. Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp


This beautiful camp is situated on the border of Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park and it’s known as one of the greatly suitable lodges for Bwindi gorilla trekkers.

The lodge can be reached in about 9 hours’ drive on the road through western Uganda and 1 hour and 40 minutes flight from Entebbe/Kajanzi airstrip to Kisoro, from here it takes about 40 kilometers on road to the camp.

The camp offers guests splendid views of the areas surrounding the park, while here you really feel the true nature of Africa. Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp is one of the oldest camps in the area, it was opened in 1994 and it’s known as the best Camp for Luxury or upper market visitors to Bwindi National Park. The camp has unique tents which preserve some unique features but also have modern styles of about 20 luxuriousness tents with standard facilities.

The camp’s tents are uniquely well furnished with well-furnished beds that give the best sound sleep once you are in the park, the rooms has bathrooms and toilets with cold and warm water. The restaurant is open 24/7 organizing both international and local food to visitors.

Bakiga lodge


Bakiga lodge is one of the supper mid-range accommodation located in the Ruhija sector of bwindi impenetrable national park, just a few point to the meeting point for gorilla trekking.

The lodge can be reached in just about 9hours drive from Kampala via Masaka Rd and Kabale – Mbarara Rd. The lodge was greatly constructed on the top of a beautiful valley overlooking bwindi forest and it gives a real meaning of an African experience, no one ever stayed here and left complaining, it is worth to stay for any traveler on midrange style.

The lodge provide comfort and warm Ugandan service and fantastic food both for local and international foods, with a bar which operates 24/7.

Bakiga lodge offers over 10 roomy cabins, all self-contained with en-suite bathrooms, each cabins has private balconies with beautiful views of the forest. With 6 family cabins and 2 twin tents of which all are self-contained, the WIFI internet is available all the time at the lodge. The lodge is known as one of the nonprofit lodges in Bwindi national park and its part of the Bakiga Community Project a registered Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Uganda and a registered charity in the UK.

Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge


This beautiful and midrange stylish accommodation is located close to Rushaga gorilla trail in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. The lodge is located just kilometers west of Nyanamo Trading Centre in Kisoro District.

The lodge can be accessed by either road or by air transport from Entebbe/Kampala by road, it’s a drive of about 9 hours to the Lodge, and by air from Entebbe / Kajansi to Kisoro airstrips it takes about 45 min and then from Kisoro airstrips you will be picked by the shuttle/ company driver to the Lodge that you have chosen for your Gorilla activity in the area.

The Rushaga sector of bwindi national park is known for hosting the most Gorilla Families along with the nearby Nkuringo area that you can track in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

The lodge was strategically located in an exclusive area with views of the endless kigezi hills Virunga volcanoes onsite and the wonderful Bwindi impenetrable forest canopy.

Tourist activities to enjoy while at The Havens Lodge

  • Gorilla tracking, the most sought after safari activity which can be done setting off from the lodge. Gorilla families which can be trekked from here include: (Mishaya, Kahungye, Nshongi, Bweza and Busingye.)  The Nkuringo and Nyakagezi can be tracked from this location as well.
